Sand Dune

Following in the footsteps

Found in a Brunswick op shop, this canvas began as a plain salmon colour base coat painted by Patricia, a local artist who had since passed away.

Patricia often painted landscapes, so rather than covering her base coat, I wanted to pay homage to that in my own landscape style.

Two figures making their way towards the summit, one following the path of the other. To me, they represent the people who guide us through life, sometimes without ever knowing the influence they’ve had on our journey like Patrica to me in this case.

This work is created by two artists who never met, at two different points in time, and that’s why this art is about following paths left by others, while finding your own way forward.
